Today's Christian Clipart: Paul Before the Sanhedrin

Today's Christian Clipart: Paul Before the Sanhedrin

Acts 23:6-10

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.

Today's Christian Clipart: Peter and John before the Sanhedrin

Acts 4:12-14

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.

Today's Christian clip art: Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin

Matthew 26:57-66, Mark 14:53-64, Luke 22:66-71

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest. Caiaphas and chief priest and whole Sanhedrin was looking for false evidence against Jesus. But they could not find any they could use to put Jesus to death. Caiaphas asked Jesus "Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." Jesus replied, "Yes, it is as you say. But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." Then Caiaphas said excitedly, "He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses?" They answered, "He is worthy of death!"
