Jesus was crucified with two criminals at the place called Golgotha. Pilate put a sign on the cross: "This is the king of the Jews". Darkness fell as Jesus hung on the cross from noon to three. Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"?which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?". People thought he was calling Ellija. And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
